In Utero...
Whispers have been in the air of late, whispers of a new member joining the hotel family. I would now like to finally come out and confirm them. I am proud to announce that Blair and I are expecting a son! He is due to arrive in October, meaning that Halloween will be particularly special this year. I can't wait to show off my belly at Kerouac Fest.

Put a list up of all the things you still need for the baby. Then I'll go shopping . Me and Joey will load you up.

He really needs a new Mac computer for the hotel lobby. And he really needs a taxidermy lion, a big one if possible. And he could maybe also use multiple cases of Sam Adams Lager. And dancing girls, nude ones.

Well, now that one man-child's needs have been accounted for, allow ME to post the other's!
Pick anything you want to bring from the following, which I am copying off the "essentials" checklist Babies R' Us gave me (though all you really need bring is yourself and your blessings for little Blair!)
Safety gates, outlet covers, mittens, baby nail clippers, hooded bath towels, endless diapers, powdered formula (just in case), blankets, breastfeeding stuff (cream, pads, etc.), rubber sheets, sleep positioners, those special pillows that prevent flat-head syndrome. Toys, pacifiers, teething rings, and clothes are always super too, and BOOKS! Dad also requests used Disney DVDs. And if anyone has an extra air purifier or humidifier we could borrow, that'd be super.
Anyway, we're looking forward to seeing everyone! Dinner will be at 7 pm compliments of Molly and Kelly who are AMAZING, and then we'll just have a nice low-key evening.
Love you all!
-Renee

Andy had a stuffed lion...it's on the third floor landing of the Warhol Museum. Babies sure do need odd things these days. The beer and the naked dancing ladies makes sense to me, but a lion? Well, I did have a dragon when I was a kid, so, I'll see what I can do.

Dear Blair & Renee,
Hi! You don't know me but I know you!... I have been lucky enough to have met and become friends with such an interesting, funny, caring person like Stephanie. We have been friends for a couple of years (how times flies!) and during this time she has been sharing all her stories and talking highly of all of you. From all that she says I can tell she loves and cherishes you guys very much!
I just wanted to say congratulations on your pregnancy and the upcoming birth of your son. What an exciting time for you. I have three beautiful daughters for which I feel thankful for every day. Especially when they're sleeping!
I just wanted to share with you that even though my husband is a physician and I am a nurse we were scared and worried with each one of them. Any logic or intelligence we thought we had went out the door. I believe the love that you feel for your child is so powerful it defies all that! With each baby we were constantly calling my mother, or our friends and the pediatrician panicking when they wouldn't stop crying or got sick or how or what to feed them and yes even once when I thought our oldest was sleeping too much! So any anxieties with this baby you may have is normal and expected. Just loving your baby will make everything fall into place.
I will never forget and try to remember each day the feeling that overtakes you when they first hand you your baby. I remember thinking, wait a minute this baby is too perfect, too precious, I don't deserve something this great. It totally overwhelms and humbles you! It almost makes you feel guilty like wait I don't have to pay for this? You mean I just had sex and then got this beautiful miraculous real life human being? Wow!
So enjoy this time in your life and enjoy your baby! I hope to meet you and your baby soon. My door is always open to Stephanie's friends, you are welcome to come by with her anytime.
Best wishes! -Mary Tomacrez
