When we first bought the hotel, the beautiful Isis Videssa Djucich, who was a big part of our original group, would fly out from California and generously help clean the place. Here she bravely takes on the kitchen!





Eventually the kitchen reached a state of warmth and comfort again, where guests came and cooked great feasts for all the hotel. Here we see 'mad hatter' Jonathon Rabkin just in from Washington, DC, attending one of our official earliest Grand Midway Hotel enchanting costume dinner parties.

Finally, the travelling intelligentsia could be found regularly eating here round the kitchen table. (Note in the center: Professor Michael Dennison, just in from Beirut, Lebanon, enjoying the Midway for a weekend with friends, before returning to the civil explosion erupting back there.)

More and more guests have started enjoying the kitchen. Parties have begun to get stranger and stranger.
